There are three true leaved wattles with green (not silvery) leaves in the area. Your photos are not really clear enough to show the glands along the rachis (axis of the leaf) and at the wrong angle to show whether the leaf base continues down the branch. Thank you for the links. I have added another photo but it doesn't really show much more. Next time i am down there i will take some better photos and look for seed pods etc.

The apparent lack of winged stems and yellowish new growth makes me this Acacia mearnsii, but as Betty says it is a bit hard to be confident with identification.
